Boston Fashion Week: Designer Denise Hajjar

(Published in the Premier Issue of "THE BUZZ" Boston University's Student Lifestyle Magazine Fall 2009)
By Jenny Taft
According to Denise Hajjar, women should wear "classic clothes in exquisite ways."
Not only did Hajjar showcase fitted, professional dresses, lovely evening gowns, and a double-breasted long black peacoat for which every woman would gladly fork over a hard-earned paycheck, but killer accessories as well.
Fur pieces, sunglasses, statement jewelry and bags accompanied every look that walked down the runway.
The event was held at Fairmont Copley Hotel--the location of Hajjar's boutique.
Admission to the show was free, but guests were encouraged to bring professional clothes for donation to "Dress for Success Boston," which promotes the independence of disadvantaged women by providing them with professional attire.

Wolves Draft 3 Point Guards, Keep 2 -- David Kahn straight to the point in first draft

Published : Thursday, 25 Jun 2009, (This is a story I wrote during my summer internship at Fox 9 Sports)
Shock went through the room when James Harden's name was called as the third pick during Thursday night's NBA Draft.
The Arizona guard, who worked out for Minnesota on Wednesday night, was a possibility for the Wolves as the fifth pick.
However, Harden was nabbed by Okahoma City earlier than many had anticipated.
Tied with the most first-round draft picks in history, Minnesota picked up Ricky Rubio with the fifth overall pick.
The 18-year-old started playing pro in Spain at the early age of 14. The point guard was the youngest basketball player in Olympic history when he played on the 2008 Spanish Olympic team.
The 6-4, 180-pound Rubio, the most talked about player in the draft, could have gone as high as number two to Memphis.
With Harden already off the docket and Rubio still on it, the Wolves made their move.
Rubio, who hails from El Masnou, Spain, will have to get used to the cold Minnesota weather, but hopefully he will heat things up on the court with his extraordinary passing abilities.
If one point guard wasn't enough, the Wolves decided on Jonny Flynn of Syracuse with their 6th pick.
The 2007-2008 Big East Co-Rookie of the Year, is expected to play well off of Rubio. Although he is only 5'11", he's a player that works hard and can finish the play, an asset the Wolves will need.
The Syracuse guard is well-known for his impressive endurance during this year's Big East Tounrnament. Flynn played all but three minutes in the six-overtime game, which resulted in a victory over Connecticut.

EMMY FASHION REPORT
Tonight I was lucky enough to watch the Emmy's and of course I love watching the pre-show to see the dresses that the stars are wearing!
In my opinion there were numerous stunning outfits and a few looks that I didn't particularly love.
First of all, I think that Olivia Wilde has picked some great outfits in the past and I loved the dress she picked for the awards tonight.

This dress fits her perfectly and I think it was a good risk for her to take. It's different yet so elegant.
Although the stars of Gossip Girl normally wear the most fashionable clothes on their television series Gossip Girl on the CW, I did not like either of the dresses worn by Blake Lively and Leighton Meester. I thought Lively's dress was gorgeous, yet I was too distracted by her retro hairstyle. Meester's dress did not complement her complexion, and it did not show off her physique. It appeared to be a few sizes too big.

January Jones is one of the leading ladies of the hit series Mad Men, and she looked absolutely stunning all night. It was definitely a risk for Jones to take but she looked amazing in the gown and I loved the overall look.
